David A. Haymes M.D., F.A.C.P. is the
Founder of MEDS for Africa. He is a practicing
internist in Dallas for over thirty years. He is
a Fellow of the American College of Physicians
and an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. He is
active in the Kairos Prison Ministry and is the
former Medical Director of Constructores Para
Cristo, a Ministry on the Texas-Mexico border.
As a former member of the Board of Directors of
the Dallas County Medical Society, he lobbied
for patient's rights in Austin and Washington.
Last year he and his wife traveled to Kenya for
medical missionary work and it changed his life.
Cherry O.
Haymes, Chair of MEDS for Africa is a
consultant/coach to individuals and professional
businesses and organizations with Coda Coaching.
As a member of the Dallas County Medical Society
Alliance, she served as Vice President and Chair
of Health Check, an event that brought medical
prevention, diagnosis and care to over 60,000
people in Dallas County. Cherry is an Elder in
the Presbyterian Church, teaches Sunday School,
is a Stephens Minister and inspires diversity in
the congregation. She is active in the Kairos
Prison Ministry, on the board of Youth Believing
in Change, and a volunteer builder and organizer
with Constructores Para Cristo for over 10
years. Last year, she and her husband traveled
to Kenya for medical missionary work, setting up
medical clinics in fields, prisons, by rivers
and abandon community centers. She and her
husband, Dr. David Haymes, will return in July
to do the same work with MEDS for Africa.
Ann Cherry,
Secretary of MEDS for Africa, is a fifth
generation native Texan who recently retired
after 26 years in Information Technology. Her
last position was Senior Project Manager for an
international company. She is a graduate of
Austin College, member of Alpha Psi Omega Honor
Society, and an elder in the Presbyterian
Church. She has served in many volunteer and
elected positions; chair of the Grace Presbytery
Stewardship Committee, Stephen Minister, North
Park Stewardship Committee member, Clerk of
Session for Chapel Hills and Ridgeview
Presbyterian, Vice-President of Ways and Means
for a Daughters of Texas Chapter, Pond Tour
Chairman for the No. Texas Water Garden Society,
member of the Board of Governors for the No.
Texas Garden Railway Club, Moderator of the
North Park Presbyterian Women, and numerous
other positions. She has experience planning
conferences, retreats, and workshops for
numerous organizations.
Dr. John
Miller Pastor/Head of Staff of Hitchcock
Presbyterian in Scarsdale, New York. He earned
his undergraduate degree from California State
University and his Master of Divinity at San
Francisco Theological Seminary. After serving
Presbyterian churches in California as a youth
minister and associate pastor, John served as
Pastor/Head of Staff as University Presbyterian
Church in San Antonio. While there he earned
his Doctor of Ministry degree from McCormick
Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. Previously served for twelve years as Pastor/Head of Staff of Northpark
Presbyterian Church.
Dr. Terrell
Hodges has been a successful architect and
dentist. He is an active member of Waxahachie
Bible Church and has been involved in the Kairos
Prison ministry. Since returning from a mission
trip to Kenya, where he gave much needed dental
care, he has raised money to purchase a vehicle
that will be used to transport patients to
healthcare facilities in rural Kenya. He is
excited about joining the board of MEDS for
Africa.
Pius Totty
is an engineer employed by Texas Instruments in
Dallas, TX. He is a member of Northpark
Presbyterian Church and currently serves as a
Deacon. He is formerly from Nigeria and now
resides in McKinney, TX with his wife and
daughter.
Wayne Anderson, is a CPA, and has prepared IRS forms for non-profits for a variety of entities. He has served on non-profit boards both as treasurer and president. He has served on the various governing bodies of local Presbyterian churches. He currently volunteers once a week at a local Alzheimer's respite program, and once a month at a local soup kitchen.. |
